Making Sales Beyond the Price Tag

In the business world it is often true that the more contacts and connections you have the more successful you are likely to be. This can be especially true if you run an online business. Many people simply do not realize the benefits of working side by side with other businesses. You can increase your sales, improve networking, provide a variety of excellent services for the local market, and tap into a multitude of other intangible benefits simply by working with others in your field.

Businesses can work together to help one another find more customers. In doing so, each business also helps to increase their own revenues. Why would you help another business and vice versa? Quite simply, doing so could be good business for you both. Let us just take an example. Imagine for a moment that you are a web-hosting provider. You provide a variety of web hosting packages. Your skills are in web hosting, not in web design. However, customers sometimes contact you asking if you offer web design services. You start to wish you had the skills to do so.

Now let's imagine you have an online contact who is a web designer. They provide web design services. However, they do not offer web hosting to their clients. Your company owns and operates web-hosting equipment, and his does not. In looking at this example, you will see that each business offers a service that could potentially benefit the other company's own clients. Perhaps you can help each other. In doing so both businesses can increase revenues and provide more services to more customers.

There are a couple ways that these two businesses can work together. It can be something as simple and laid back as you telling the web designer that anytime your clients inquire about web design you will send them his way. You will refer those clients to the web designer's own website and/or you will provide the clients with his contact information. In exchange the web designer will direct anyone looking for a quality-hosting provider to your business. By working together, you can both gain more customers by helping not only each other but also your clients.

You can also take a more professional and official approach when working with other businesses to gain more customers for everyone. For example, you can set up an affiliate program in which the other company receives a commission for any business they send your way and vice versa. This provides an incentive for all businesses involved. They can offer a referral link or code to any of their customers who could benefit from your services in addition to their own. The other business will earn a commission when any referrals make a purchase. That client is likely to appreciate the fact that the business sent them to someone who can help them with their other needs and will be more likely to do business with them again. And you, of course, will gain some new clients. Using an affiliate program you can do the same for other businesses as well. Everyone will benefit!

Another option is to sub contract or do freelance work for other businesses. Let us look again at our example in which you are a web hosting provider and one of your contacts is a web designer. You can provide hosting services for their web design clients. The web designer will pay you a certain amount to provide hosting services to their clients. On the other hand, they can provide web design services to your clients needing websites designed. You can offer web design for your clients without being able to design on your own. Instead you can pay the designer to create the site for your client and in turn charge your client fees to cover the cost of the design as well as a few extra dollars for your own profit. Again in working together, both businesses can acquire more work and income and in the meantime be able to provide more well rounded services to clients.

When businesses work together, great results can occur. Businesses can help each other to obtain more clients and more work. This will allow each business to gain more income. Clients benefits because they have access to a wider variety of product. If businesses work together by each offering the products and services that are in their line of specialty, everyone can be a winner!
