Link Campaigns

So you've decided to set up a link exchange campaign as part of your marketing/advertising campaign. You've researched and learned the benefits of building a link campaign and now the only problem is you are not really sure how to find link exchanges and/or sites accepting URL submissions. Here are some simple steps you can take to launch a successful link campaign.

There are various sites that want to exchange links. You can begin by searching for directories that are related to your area of business or directories that include categories under which your business or website topics would fall. It is not highly recommended to exchange links with "link farm" type-sites. Instead look for some quality directories with good PR. Find directories that either accepts URL submissions or that will include your URL when exchanging links. It is best to look for directories that are closely related to your industry specifically. The reason for this is that when you include that directory in your directory on your website you are offering your visitors with a valuable resource related to their areas of interest (another words, related to your industry).

As with anytime that you wish to locate something online, you can also use search engines to help you find websites accepting submissions or offering link exchanges. Visit one or more search engines. Then enter (keyword) ADD URL. For example if you have a hosting website you may want to enter HOSTING ADD URL. This search should generate you websites that are seeking or always accept link exchanges. In fact many of the sites may be the type that have link exchange scripts that are always active on their site. You can quickly and easily join a link exchange. Visit their website, add your URL and then add their URL to your directory. Be doing a keyword search plus ADD URL you are specifying the industry or area of interest where you wish to exchange links. You are finding websites related to the services or topics of your business/website. After adding your link, you can wait to hear back from the website as to if/when your URL has been added to the directory. Remember sites that use link exchange scripts will typically visit your website first to make certain you have added a link to their site.

You can also use search engines to locate websites that would be "related" to your own. Or think of websites that could direct customers to you and vice versa. For example, if you offer design services but not hosting services you could consider a link exchange with web hosts. If the web host does not offer design services they could provide a link to your site. In doing so you are helping each other gain more traffic and in turn you are each directing more visitors to the other's site. You are not taking business away from each other but helping one another to build a larger visitor and hopefully client list.

To find website you would ask to exchange links with you must first decide what type websites you wish to place your link on and then search for those websites. So as in our example above, you can search for web hosts. Look at the top few hosting providers that are listed on the search engines. These should be popular and high traffic sites. Visit those sites to ensure that they are quality sites. Once you have a list of potential link partners, you will need to contact either the Webmaster or site/business owner to inquire if they are interested in a link exchange. If they are, you will then discuss the terms of the link exchange so that you both can benefit.

Another way to find some link exchanges is to visit Webmaster and other forums. Many of these forums offer market place categories. You will often see requests for link exchanges. People will typically list their PR for their website and therefore you can search for websites with a good PR. Find websites that you would benefit from exchanging links with and then work out the arrangements for exchanging links.

Take your time when building a link campaign. Find quality websites on which to place your links. Any link you include on your website must also be quality. You only want to list links that can benefit your visitors or links to sites that would be useful for people to visit. Research websites before exchanging links.
