Single Page Website

An interesting marketing experiment for single web pages as a marketing tool - definitely worth the look. The idea is to utilize every aspect of a single web page to totally dominate a particular key phrase while still maintaining value for the reader. In this case it's the phrase "single web page." By utilizing the second level domain name (remember top level domain names are com, net, org and the like) as an anchor for the page's key phrase, it might give the site the extra bump it needs to stay at the top of the search results. We're going to have to check in on this one once in a while to see how it's working.

I particularly like this idea for a network of single topic websites. How-to articles, tutorials, quick info bites, all networked together feeding each other. Instead of internal navigation leading you further into the site you're at, you would jump to a new single page domain. Frankly, if they all looked the same the users would hardly notice (Microsoft does it all the time). Check out one of my sites designed for freight forwarders for an example.

Although not particularly useful for site navigation (unless you had a central, core site just for the purpose of navigation) it might add extra weight to the all-important search rankings.

To coin a phrase from one of my favorite bloggers, this would be the search engine optimization equivalent of overwhelming force.
