Affiliate Programs

A lot of people will probably stop reading here because they think they know everything there is to know about affiliate programs. That's fine; they don't need to be here anyway. I'm a big fan of affiliate programs because there's one for virtually every type of product out there, and I'm a member several.

I don't bother pushing the affiliates directly (let them do their own marketing), but I do keep a handy list of those affiliates who provide a quality product that I don't mind lending my name to. I'm continually asked to provide references for web hosting, online payment systems, web design work, etc. and I'm glad to share my favorites. If I happen to make a few dollars in the process, then everyone is a winner!

Pros:

  • Providing recommendations is easy and can add to the bottom line with no additional effort.

Cons:

  • Be careful about what products you lend your name to, and how you approach it. Many people are turned off by a recommendation that comes with a kickback no matter how genuine it may be.

OK, that's enough of the free secrets. I challenge you to use the above to expand your marketing reach. If you come up with your own winning strategy, don't forget about your friend here and drop me a line.
