When You Want Your Own Website

What's in a name?

Well, you want it to be catchy enough to remember, easy to spell, and most of all not already taken!

While ".com" is the most popular and easily recognized domain, ".net" is gaining in popularity, and there are others, such as ".org", ".biz", ".info.", ".us", and ".ws" which is important to note, because you may go to register your domain name and find that "www.lrobynohara.com" is taken, but "www.lrobynohara.net" is free and clear.

My suggestion, though, is to try different spellings of the ".com" that you want first, before moving on to another domain suffix. (LROhara.com, LRobyn.com, etc.) If you want to see quickly if your chosen name is available, go to www.godaddy.com and type the name into their database, they'll let you know in a heartbeat if it's available.

L. Robyn O'Hara
